The What:

The charity driven Fort Wayne Derby Girls are teaming up with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana to raise funds for services and supplies for women with breast cancer in Fort Wayne. Near the end of summer, the two organizations will host an art exhibit and silent auction in conjunction with local artists, breast cancer survivors, and businesses. Aptly named “Bust a Move,” the event hopes to raise over $4,000.

In addition to teaming up with Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, the Fort Wayne Derby Girls have been given the opportunity to be part of Fort Wayne’s Little Give through 95.1 WAJI, which will donate $100 to the cause with the hope that through the fundraiser, we can turn that into a substantial donation to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. For more info about WAJI's Little Give, visit their website: http://waji.com/majicinthemorning.html

The Why:

For “Bust a Move,” local artists and women will be volunteering their talents and their bodies to create unique, inspiring cast representations of the female bust and the emotions associated with breast cancer. Each cast will be painted, mounted on a powder-coated metal stand, and auctioned off for charity. We are in the process of selecting a venue that can offer us the opportunity to display the casts for approximately one month before the auction and host a gala that will include hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music. It will be an event to remember. We are also looking for local artists willing to paint the casts, businesses willing to donate cash or in-kind services, and breast cancer survivors willing to participate in the casting process.
