Captain of the FWDG Bomb Squad Co-captain of the Smokin' Guns Position: Blocker, Pivot, Jammer 2006 Team: Evil 2006 Season Awards: 2007 Team: Smokin' Guns 2007 Season Awards: FWDG Since January 2006
Bio: During her worldly travels in the Far East when she was younger, this quiet woman encountered many unforgiving thugs who tried to shamelessly take advantage of her. After being repeatedly beaten down by some of these heartless bullies, Bang Bang decided she would take no more. She took control of her life and found revenge! Around every corner and down every street, she would take down whoever was in her way by any means necessary. She would not stand down in the face of adversity. Bang Bang eventually settled in Ft. Wayne. Today, she is married with 2 kids. (This is minus the kid she had to sell off for survival on the streets.) She serves her public to assure their safety as a Fort Wayne firefighter. Things are relatively normal in Bang Bang’s life now, but when she hits the rink, memories of her past come flooding back. She will push and shove her way through the pack and nothing can stop her determination. If blood starts to flow, then so be it! Derby Questionnaire: Where are you from? Born in Columbus, OH, raised in Fort Wayne, IN
How did you hear about roller derby? My husband read about it in the newspaper and I did some investigating on the Internet. It snowballed until I found myself at try outs. What was it about roller derby that interested you? It's a tough contact sport and it was something different than anything I had ever done. What is your "real life" occupation? Professional firefighter. I start my 11th year in June. What is your worst derby-related injury to date? I have been lucky enough not to have had any serious derby injury. I have foot issue (not derby related) that I have been dealing with that makes it difficult to skate and has actually kept me off my skates. Other than that, just minor bumps, bruises, and rink rash. But those are all badges of derby honor! Please list a crazy unknown fact about yourself. I can blow bubbles off the tip of my tongue. How did you come up with your skate name? A friend of mine from high school, who was always witty, came up with it. I had another name picked out in the beginning (Trixie). But Bang Bang LaDesh had absolutley nothing to do with me. It truely is an alter ego. What do you like best about derby? It is one of the toughest sports that I have ever participated in. The women that I have met because of derby are amazing. It has come to a point that I can't imagine them not being in my life. They are great friends. And the fact that our league actually does good for our community in addition to providing entertainment, I am proud to be part of it and proud to be a derby girl! I even suckered my husband to be a part of this. It has become a family affair. Educational background: I became a firefighter when I was 21 and at work, I constantly train and learn. It is a constant educational process. On which FWDG committees do you serve? Medic Chair & Bomb Squad Captain What is your favorite FWDG memory? It's hard to pick just one because it has all been a favorite
memory. I would have to say, one was, the anxiousness I felt waiting and
when I got my offficial e-mail telling me that I was picked to be a member
of the FWDG.
