This November, local chefs will be spicing things up for the annual Flavor of Fall (flavoroffall.com) on the 5th from 4 - 7pm at the historic Baker Street Train Station. The cook-off is between finer restaurants and notable chefs competing for the best chili, chowder, soup or gumbo. This fundraising event, hosted by the Brenda Hanchar Foundation, helps provide medical supplies and equipment to low income individuals and families.
Admission to the Flavor of Fall is free. The guests of the event determine which chef has the best chili, chowder, soup or gumbo. After sampling, guests can place votes towards their favorites with cash or checks. At the end of the event, the chef with the most money raised is titled the winner or the official “Flavor of Fall” and awarded the coveted Ladle.
During the fundraiser is a silent auction and music provided by The University of Saint Francis Jazz Ensemble. The silent auction will feature fine restaurant gift certificates, rounds of golf, artwork, holiday carriage rides, etc.
The Flavor of Fall is in support of the overall purpose which is to raise money for the Brenda Hanchar Foundation. One hundred percent of all funds raised are donated to the Brenda Hanchar Foundation.
It is the mission of the Foundation “to help those who are unable to afford physician directed medical equipment, medical supplies or prescription medication to enhance and maintain a reasonable quality of life.”
BHF accepts used medical equipment and financial contributions to purchase needed supplies and equipment, ie., walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds, etc., as well as maintaining the equipment. The Brenda Hanchar Foundation is staffed entirely by volunteers. They seek to work cooperatively with other organizations assisting those in need without duplicating any efforts already present in the community. If you are in need of services or would like to donate equipment please call (260) 432-0400.
Please mark your calendar and join us for the Flavor of Fall on Thursday, November 5th from 4-7pm at the Baker Street Train Station, on Baker Street near Parkview Field. To learn more about the Flavor of Fall and the Brenda Hanchar Foundation, visit Flavoroffall.com.

4/12/09 - Last Home Bout of the 2009 Season Results:
In front of another large crowd at our new home, The Coliseum, Fort Wayne's SWAT Team and Bomb Squad went head to head with the Steel City Derby Demons from Pittsburgh, PA. The SWAT Team had a rough start against Steel City's B Unit, finding themselves down 22 to 9 after 6 jams, but slowly they chiseled away at that lead on the backs of strong jams by Sweet Avenger and Sugar Guns to end the period down 8, score 30-38. Right from the first whistle of the second period, the SWAT Team was on fire, racking up several grand slams to win the bout, 83 to 67, to finish their 2009 Home Season 4-0. The Bomb Squad wasn't so lucky. Steel City's All Stars, Steel Hurtin', hit the track with some slow and strong pack play that the Bomb Squad could not combat. After 60 hard fought, aggressive minutes, The Bomb Squad found themselves on the wrong end of a 69 to 143 final score, to end their 2009 Home Season 3-1. Now Fort Wayne's teams hit the road until January 2010. Check out our events page to see when you can catch them in action next.

This season has been full of rough and tumble derby action, and we expect the same on August 16. Proceeds from the bout will be donated to Habitat for Humanity's Women Build.

07.07.08- Results from East Coast Derby Extravanganza
Our Bomb Squad traveled to Philadelphia on June 21 and 22 to participate in the East Coast Derby Extravaganza, a two-day tournament featuring 20 WFTDA sanctioned bouts and a variety of pick up scrimmages.
The Bomb Squad went up against the Mad Rollin' Dolls from Madison, WI, and the CT Rollergirls from Connecticut. Here are the recaps of those bouts from Derby News Network: (www.derbynewsnetwork.com)
(17) Madison 250 vs. (31) Fort Wayne 38: Madison posted the third-biggest point margin in the history of ranked WFTDA play, swamping the overmatched Fort Wayne crew by 212.
(u) Connecticut 81 vs. (31) Fort Wayne 79: Things get off to a sobering start in the very first jam when Connecticut's Tina Colada suffers a broken collarbone, causing the action to pause for about 15 minutes while she is removed by stretcher. From then on, it's a very physical contest that remains seesaw all the way through, and just like in Connecticut's Saturday bout, the score is tied going into the final jam. Connecticut gets to have the opposite of Burning River's experience, though, getting their second last-minute win in two days when they are again the beneficiary of an opening-pass cutting track penalty on the opposing jammer.
06.08.08- Results from Arch Rivals
On Saturday, June 7, the Arch Rival Roller Girls from St. Louis, MO ventured to Fort Wayne to take on the Bomb Squad. After 9 hours in the car and mutiple detours due to flooding, Arch Rivals arrived just before the start of the bout... and what a bout it was!
We will have a full bout recap, including pictures and stats soon.
Final score: Bomb Squad 72, Arch Rivals 70.

10.15.07- Results from Rocky Horror Derby Show!
For the last bout of the 2007 home season, the PLEX was packed! Over 500 fans came out to support the Alpha Dollz and the Little Arsenic Annies as they squared off to fight for one more win.
The Dollz started out strong, consistently putting points on the board, as the Annies struggled to find their rhythm. Ahead by almost 20 points after the first period, the Dollz just needed to keep their momentum to secure the win.
But, heading into the 2nd period, the Annies got pumped up and put two consecutive BIG scores on the board: 13 unanswered pts by Kitty Kiljoy, followed by another 8 unanswered pts by ripTIDE. It was a whole new game! The Annies were now up by almost 20 pts. But the Dollz held them scoreless for the next 7 jams as they inched within 7 pts by the end of the 2nd period.
It was anyone's game going into the 3rd period. Avid derby fans know that a 7 point lead can disappear with one strong jam. Both teams fought hard, trading scores, but ultimately, The Dollz penalties sent their jammers to the box on 3 consecutive jams, and it was just what the Annies needed to put it away.
Teams end their season as follows: Smokin' Guns 3-1, Little Arsenic Annies 2-2,. Alpha Dollz 1-3
Our 2008 season will be scheduled soon, so check back for more details.
10.06.07- Don't miss the last home bout of the 2007 season
We have raised over $20,000 for local charities since March 2006, and on Saturday, October 13, we will raise money for the Hoosier Burn Camp (HBC).
Named “Rocky Horror Derby Show,” the October 13th bout will pit the Little Arsenic Annies against the Alpha Dollz for the second time this season. The first time these two team met, the Alpha Dollz ran away with the victory. Can they do it again? Come find out and be part of the hard hittin’ and charity driven action.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the bout starts at 7 p.m. You can purchase tickets at Bikes and Boards, The PLEX, Get Wet or from any derby girl. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door. If you are a man or woman in blue, EMT, fire fighter, teacher or military service person and show your i.d. at the door, you will get $2 off the price of your ticket.
Join us before the bout at 4pm for a tail gate party with the Hoosier Burn Camp and members of the Fort Wayne police and fire departments. The band Loose Change will be on hand, along with food, activities and goodies for the kids.
Those of you not in attendance at last night's bout, missed one hell of a show. A bout recap will be available soon. Final score, 65-63. Smokin' Guns take home the victory over the Alpha Dollz to end their season 3-1.
Check out our PHOTOS page to see pictures from the bout.
08.13.07- Guns Defeat Annies in 4th Home Bout!
The Smokin' Guns and the Little Arsenic Annies battled it out on Saturday night at our 4th home bout of the season.
In the first period, the two teams were neck and neck, trading leads up until the last 3 jams. Ahead by two points, 14-12, the Guns sent Foxy Trotsy to the Jammer line and she scored 2 grand slams, 10 unanswered points. The score at the end of the first period was 31-12.
The Annies came out strong in the 2nd period, outscoring the Guns 9 to 5 in the first three jams, but little by little, the Guns put points on the board to end the 2nd period 62-35.
Never a team to give up, the Annies rallied in the 3rd period and held the Guns to 13 points. In the end, it wasn't enough and the Guns came out on top 75-48.
To see some of the action, check out our PHOTOS page.
08.27.07- Update: Develyn Cide and Bomb Squad bout in Denver
The Bomb Squad travelled to Denver, Colorado this weekend to bout the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. The final score reflected a victory for Rocky Mountain, but the effort put forth on the floor by the Bomb Squad told a different story. More details and photos from the event will be available soon.
One very unfortunate incident occurred early in the 3rd period. Taking an unsuspected blow from Rocky Mountain's Pinky 500, Develyn Cide, a Bomb Squad rookie, took a hard fall and broke both her Tibia and Fibula. 07.28.07- Dollz Top Annies in 3rd Home Bout
Arguably one of the most exciting bouts to date and the highest attended all season, the Alpha Dollz top the Little Arsenic Annies 69-52 in the 3rd home bout of the season held on 7/21/07 at the PLEX.
Trading the lead throughout the 1st period, both teams battled skillfully to get their jammers through the pack. Heading into the final jam of the period, they were tied at 19 points. Pushycat and a strong blocking line up secured the Dollz lead by scoring 5 points to end the first period 24-19.
The Dollz opened the 2nd period with Mayhem as the jammer, and she scored 5 unanswered points to put them up by 10, followed by 3 unanswered points by Pink PAINther. But the Annies were not going down without a fight. Develyn Cide took the star for the Annies and secured 4 points to zero against the Dollz' Alotta Attitude. The score at the end of the 2nd period had the Dollz up by 9, 47-36.
Heading into the 3rd period, it was still anyone's game. Kitty Kiljoy managed to sneak by with two shut out jams, securing 7 points for her team. In the end, the Dollz steadily put points on the board to win 69-52.
All three teams are now tied up at 1-1.

07.01.07- Results from Bomb Squad vs. Grand Raggidy
If you missed the bout last night, you missed the closest bout in Fort Wayne Derby Girls history. The 23rd ranked team in the nation, the Grand Raggidy Rollergirls, came to the PLEX to take on the Bomb Squad.
The score was tight for the first 15 minutes of the first period as the Bomb Squad and GRRG traded the lead until GRRG scored big and ended the first period 32-16. Not to go out without a fight, the Bomb Squad fought back and secured a 36 point swing to end the 2nd period up by 20 points. But, it is not over till it's over. GRRG fought back hard and came within 1 point of the Bomb Squad going into the last 2 minutes of the period. With a score of 82-81 in favor of the Bomb Squad, our jammer got sent to the box and GRRG's jammer fought hard against a tough Bomb Squad blocking line-up to score 3 points in the last 10 seconds and secure a GRRG win 84-82.
We have an awesome group of photographers and they've supplied some fantastic photos from our last home bout. Thank you Jeffrey Crane, Steve Vorderman, Patrick Taylor and Jason McFarland. Check out our PHOTOS page to see their work!

02.26.07- Results from the Bomb Squad's bout versus WCR!
The Bomb Squad travelled to Chicago on Saturday, February 24th to take on Windy City's All Star Team. After much hard work and anticipation, the Bomb Squad faced the more experienced WCR team whose skaters came out fast and hard to shut the Bomb Squad out in the first period.
The final score of the bout was 128-21, but it does not reflect the heart and soul that the Fort Wayne skaters put into the match-up. The WCR team was bigger, faster, and had more strategy. We respect them and thank them for their hospitality. We all had a blast. We also wish them luck in their upcoming bouts at the East Tournament in March. Kick some butt!
The Bomb Squad would like to thank the bus load of fans who came out to support them in Chicago. Without your support, they could not do what they do!
On February 11, 2007, the FWDG formed four permanent home teams. The teams are: The Alpha Dolls, LIttle Arsenic Annies, The Lucky Harmers, and the Smoking Guns. Look for new teams pages coming soon.

10.7.06- Results from the Strongest Woman Contest
Last night was Fort Wayne's Strongest Woman Contest out at Jim Bailey's Harley Davidson. The Derby Girls were invited to compete against the Fort Wayne Flash (female football team) in ten different strength events.
The Flash pulled their weight in events like bench pressing and the Farmer's Walk, but your Fort Wayne Derby Girls conquered events like Indian Leg Wrestling, the Blind Wheel Barrow Race and the Hummer Push! It's true what they say about the legs of a Derby Girl! Our own Kitty Kiljoy kicked some serious butt in Jell-O Wrestling as well!
Ticket sale proceeds will be donated to LifeLine, a local non-profit organization to help struggling youth and families have hope for the future. Your Fort Wayne Derby Girls are always ready, willing, and proud to donate to local charities.

9.17.06- Results from Fear & Loathing in Fort Wayne
How does it go? Good always prevails over Evil in the end? Team Good pulled it together to win their first bout of the 2006 exhibition season!
If you weren't there, here is what you missed:
The two teams went back and forth in the first period, but towards the end, Team Good pulled ahead and never looked back. They outscored Team Evil for the next two periods to finish them off.
Val Catraz and Roxy Rampage went skate to skate in a brutal fight. Roxy took a blunt force trauma to the nose and is showing off the swelling mass as we speak!
Team Evil Captain, Miss Jane RedRum, took offense to a block by Spunk D and pulled her to the ground to earn herself a major penalty and some quality time with the penalty mistresses.
Team Good Captain, GoGo Beware, went down fighting with Team Evil Co-Captain, Pushycat in front of the Team Good bench.
I thought Captains were supposed to be role models? In derby, being a hard ass and throwing some punches is being a role model!
Team Evil finishes the season 3-1 and Team Good comes through at 1-3. Great job to both teams this season! Look for new teams and a travel team soon as we prepare for our 2007 season.
8.27.06- Derby Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Team Evil came out ahead 143-117 in the Fort Wayne Derby Girl's 3rd exhibition bout bringing their record to 3-0 over Team Good. Roller Dome South was packed as Team Good jumped out to a 10 point lead early in the 1st period, but little by little Team Evil put points on the board and finally put it away in the 3rd period.
Photos from Derby Deeds will be available soon!
If you missed our 3rd bout, don't worry, we have one more. September 16th will be our 4th and final exhibition bout this season. Tickets will go on sale soon. Check back often for details.
7.16.06- Summer Shovin' Results
Our 2nd bout was a huge success and we want to thank all our fans who braved the heat to be there to support us. When all was said and done, Team Evil came out ahead in a nail-biting finish to increase their record to 2 and 0 against Team Good.
If you weren't there, here are a few things you missed:
Kitty Kiljoy and Go Go Beware going down in a flury of fists in the 2nd period
Domino and Val Catraz getting into a full blown scuffle in the 2nd period
Kitty Kiljoy and The Cutter duking it out in period 3 resulting in Kitty's ejection from the game
Kitty Kiljoy and Mayhem's boxing match as Kitty leaves the floor after her ejection.......
And the debauchery didn't stop there. The girls put on a great bout. Stayed tuned for more information and PHOTOS from the bout.
