Lucky Harmers (76) vs. Smokin' Guns (104)

Our two home teams, the Smokin' Guns and Lucky Harmers, met on the track for the last time this season at the PLEX on Saturday, August 16. Both teams headed into the bout looking to end the season on a win and it was a fight to the finish.

The Harmers started out strong with big jams by Pushycat and Victory's Secret, shocking the Guns and taking the lead 12 to 6. The next two jams saw much of the same as the Guns tried to chip away at the Harmer's early lead. It wasn't until the sixth jam that the Guns put up 4 points on a smart jam by Dodger L. Bows against veteran Harmer Pushycat to tie the score at 26... and the Guns never looked back. An 8-point jam by Gun's jammer Zippy D Doodah and several consistent scores the rest of the period by the team's other jammers, saw the Guns up 55 to 43.

But the Guns couldn't count the Harmers out yet! Anyone who knows anything about roller derby knows that a 12 point lead doesn't mean much. And Victory's Secret almost gained the lead back for the Harmers as she racked up 12 big points in the second jam, but that was the closest the Harmers would get in the 2nd period. Led in scoring by Enya Grave with an outstanding 48 points on the game, the Guns continued to put up points on the board to seal the victory 104-76.
